1. Christian Annyas - Railroad Company Logo Design Evolution

    "The early design all have a certain handmade quality. Most of them are simple, bold, black and white. And timeless. Some of them can still be seen on box cars and locomotives; they still remain powerful."

    I love these! They are mostly very old logos, up til Herbert Matters excellent New Haven railroad logo (top right) which is from 1954. You can see more logos and newer ones in the original post (from an always interesting blog!).

    What I think is really interesting is the aesthetic and styling of these logos has a lot in common with a recent design trend that has been around for a while now. The Dieline recently profiled this trend, specifically in packaging design, calling it 'Hipster'
