The logo and identity for the Festival of Britain, designed by Abram Games in 1951.
I absolutely love this. Since I finished my research and dissertation on Mid-Century Modern design I’ve kind of moved on and got really interested in British graphic design of the same period and earlier. Theres a definite aesthetic to it, and this really typifies it, totally classic!
This image is from a collection found on the site of things magazine, who have a great range of other projects too. They also happen to have a fantastic blog, and are on tumblr; http://thingsmagazine.tumblr.com/
If you like the look of the Festival of Britain design and want to know more I highly recommend this book - A Symbol for the Festival
